The short version: ReferencePoint collects sensor data to do what you ask it to do. That data stays on your device or in your personal iCloud Drive. Nothing is sent to any server. No accounts. No tracking. No ads.
Overview
ReferencePoint ("the app") is a sensor recording and monitoring tool for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy describes what data the app accesses, how it is used, and where it is stored.
ReferencePoint is developed and maintained by the developer at 13dg.org. The app has no backend infrastructure, no user accounts, and no third-party analytics or advertising integrations.
Data the App Accesses
To function, ReferencePoint requests access to the following device capabilities and data sources:
- Location (GPS) — for tracking, breadcrumb trails, and weather at your recording location
- Motion and fitness — accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, pedometer, and activity recognition
- Microphone — for ambient audio level monitoring (dBFS only; audio is not recorded)
- Camera — for photo capture with EXIF metadata
- LiDAR and ARKit — for 3D mesh reconstruction and spatial anchor mapping
- HealthKit — for heart rate monitoring during Apple Watch sessions
- Bluetooth — for AirPods Pro head motion tracking and Apple Watch connectivity
- Network state — for connectivity monitoring
- Weather data — fetched via the Apple WeatherKit framework using your location
How Data Is Used
All data accessed by ReferencePoint is used solely to provide the features you request within the app. Sensor readings are displayed in real time and, when you start a recording session, stored locally on your device or synced to your personal iCloud Drive.
No data is used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct function of the app.
Where Data Is Stored
All session data is stored on-device in the app's private container, or in your personal iCloud Drive if iCloud sync is enabled. iCloud sync is controlled entirely by your Apple ID and iCloud settings — the developer has no access to your iCloud data.
ReferencePoint does not operate any servers. No data is transmitted to the developer or any third party.
HealthKit
ReferencePoint uses HealthKit to read heart rate data from Apple Watch during active recording sessions. This data is displayed within the app and included in session recordings you initiate.
Apple Intelligence
ReferencePoint includes on-device AI analysis of your session data using Apple Intelligence. This processing occurs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device models. No session data is sent to any external AI service.
Children's Privacy
ReferencePoint is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children. The app collects no data beyond what is stored locally on your device.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at 13dg.org/ReferencePoint/privacy.html with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
